Duna Eco-Tourism Centre, Rácalmás
This centre is in the heart of the country, barely sixty kilometres from Budapest, right next to the Rácalmási-Islands Nature Reserve. The ethnographic and culinary exhibitions, craftsmen’s workshops and the interactive hall with multi-media will prove to be a nice and useful way to relax.
From the Eco-Centre we can enjoy a wonderful view of the Great-Island with its unique and rich flora and fauna. A newly-built nature trail leads us through with seventeen big colourful information boards, rain-shelters and bird-watching spots. For the lovers of active relaxation the sheltered bike path leading all the way to Dunaújváros and the harbour accommodating even up to fifty boats will present unforgettable experiences. The more adventurous can step into a motorboat or a punt and can travel round the island on water. It is also worth mentioning that leaving the capital on the Danube the harbour is the first point that not only provides an opportunity to stop but also to camp for the night. The staff at the Eco-Centre are ready to provide guides for individual or group excursions and they also organise boat-trips on the Smaller and Greater Danube also tourists have an opportunity to do some fishing, take pictures of nature or to do some bird-watching. And if you are there, visit the East-African trophy exhibition in the Eco-Centre.
