Ritta Hager – Via Lucis exhibition
2025. május 31. - 2025. szeptember 07.
Among the stones of the former coronation basilica, we can admire 33 textile works by Ritta Hager, a Kossuth Prize-winning industrial artist, textile designer, and tapestry artist who was awarded the title of Artist of the Nation.
Ritta Hager's artistic world deals with spiritual and sacred themes. Light plays a central role in her works, which radiates peace and strength. She uses tapestry, old tapestry, weaving, and binding within a single work. Her creations transcend the two dimensions of the plane, composing plastic works that appear in the three dimensions of space. Her mini textile sculptures radiate serenity, humor, and irony. She is characterized by experimentation and respect for traditions, as well as emphasizing the properties of the material and displaying the world and values beyond the material. Her works suggest a positive message, the protective and helpful power of the ever-present Providence.
The exhibition, VIA LUCIS, is connected to the period following the Paschal Mystery until Pentecost, which follows the events after the Passion Story until the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The Way of Light and Joy commemorates the resurrection of Christ, the discipleship as it moves from the Paschal sacrament of Christianity from the darkness of sin to the light of grace. The retrospective exhibition evokes the INNER LIGHT that leads to God among the stones of the Coronation Basilica. The Way of Light leads from the reality of pain to the hope of achieving man's true purpose, to liberation, to joy, to inner peace, which is fulfilled in Pentecost through the Easter resurrection.
