The statue of György Varkocs constable of the castle
The statue of György Varkocs former constable of the castle stands on the pedestal built from the stones of the old castle wall at the side of the fountain symbolising the former moat. He died in battle in the siege of 1543 after the defenders – according to legend – closed the gate before he was able to enter.
