Carmelite Church
This was the first school of higher-education in the city that educated and commissioned 30 seminarians a year. On its ceiling it boasts a magnificent fresco by Maulbertsch.
The Carmelites had arrived in Fehérvár in 1689 after they were building their monastery and church between 1731-1769. They entrusted Franz Anton Maulbertsch of Austria to paint the two altarpieces and frescos of their church. He was working in Fehérvár until 1768. The paintings of Virgin Mary represent aesthetic value and theological content. The statues and the wooden furniture of the church were made by Hauser Lőrinc a Bavarian monk and sculptor.
In the right chapel of the church the 200 -year-old wax copy of the little Jesus statue of Prague is kept. In the left chapel the only one plague cross in Hungary is kept.
