Royal Days - Coronation Festivities

2018. augusztus 17. - 2018. augusztus 19.

This festival of all-arts evokes the figures of kings crowned here at one time through a colourful medieval cavalcade. The popular giant-puppets return, the inner city lights up in the evening and the pages of the moving historic cartoons projected onto the walls of houses come to life. It is unique, grandiose, majestic!

Those visiting in August can see a real miracle: the Coronation Festive Plays which take us back to the former coronation city. The highlights of the event are the ceremonial plays, the medieval market cavalcade, the procession of the giant puppets and the Street of Lights. The Coronation Ceremonial Plays evokes the coronation by the interpretation of almost 900-year-old ceremonial texts on the monumental stage built at the National Memorial Site amongst a grandiose setting with modern lighting and visual technology. At the Városháza (Town Hall) Square a medieval city is built within the city which presents the surroundings not only by factual objectiveness but also presents the life of times gone by with traditionalists, actors and market-men. In the medieval cavalcade the giant five metre tall royal puppets appear from time to time evoking the royal centuries. The Street of Light is the biggest moving historic cartoon of Europe that tells a story about the life and legend of the crowned king.
